What a nice day today for our school wide Terry Fox run. We each got a sticker/tattoo and a small sign indicating who we are running for (we got to chose who we wanted to run for). Right after lunch, in our classroom we did some stretches, got our stickers ready, then headed outside to join the rest of the school in the run. We ran in a huge circle around the field at the top of the hill. Everyone worked really hard to get as many laps as possible.
If you still wish to donate a Toonie for Terry, the school will be collecting until Friday. There are prizes for the class who raises the most money.
Following our Terry Fox run, we got together with the other Grade 2 classes and started a comparison activity of the Oompa Loompas from the 2 movies that have been made. First, in our individual classes, we had an extensive discussion on the characteristics of Oompa Loompas from the book, then we came together. We will be taking these characteristics and creating our own Oompa Loompas!
Finally, in math we continued our work on increasing patterns. Today we got to build different increasing patterns with pattern blocks. We also discovered that there is more then one way they can be created. Ask about the three different increasing patterns we learned about today!
Reminders:
- First day of swimming tomorrow. Please send your child to school wearing their bathing suit; this will make things run more smoothly at the pool. Do not forget to bring a towel, fresh underwear, and plastic bag to put all the wet items in after swimming.
- Toonie for Terry donations will be accepted until Friday.
- Keep practicing those word wall words at home, there will be a quiz on Friday
