Good Afternoon,
Luckily it wasn't too cold out today because we had our first fire drill practice. Our class did a very good job of lining up and waiting quietly outside.
In Grade 2, we have been doing a novel study on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Today we read that Charlie got the last golden ticket! We also joined the other two classes and Ms. Binks read us a letter that we all received from Mr Willy Wonka himself. He is coming to us with a project to help create and develop a new machine, for his factory, that will pick up wrapped candy bars and put them in a box. Being that we are studying magnets right now in science, we came up with the idea of creating a magnetic machine that will pick up candy bars that are wrapped in magnetic material. We are very excited to start this project!
We had a discussion today about big and small problems and how we can solve them. Focusing on small problems we learned 9 different problem solving strategies we can use. In a small group we chose one of the strategies and acted them out. The 9 problem solving strategies we can use are:
-walk away
-talk it out
-make a deal
-ignore it
-tell them to stop
-wait and cool off
-go to another game
-share and take turns
-apologize
Remember to continue practicing those word wall words.
Reminders:
- Meet the Teacher forms due back Thursday
- Technology form due asap
- Bring a set of labeled headphones to use computers and IPads
