Happy long weekend! Even though it was short, we had another busy week.

We have been working hard in literacy, practicing our word wall words. Using them in sentences, recognizing them as we do work in other subject areas, and sounding them out when writing, as well as recognizing some of their family words while reading books and doing large group work. We also have been concentrating on printing neatly and putting spaces between our words. Our word wall has already grown so much and it sure has been helpful when completing learning tasks.

Today in math we did centers. There were four centers in total, all focused on a different math strand. The station were:
1) practicing place value to 1000
2) building patterns with pattern blocks and writing and labeling them in our math journal
3) treasure hunt - a dice game that had adding, number recognition, and following instructions
4) penny shuffle - a game that involved adding 3 different numbers together to get one final score
It was a lot of fun to work through the different stations as we continue to build our math skills.

Yesterday, in science, we discovered which material that will work for Mr. Wonka's new candy bar; it is iron! Now that we know what material is attracted to magnets and what objects are and are not attracted to magnets we can, soon, start the next steps of our project to help Mr. Wonka's factory.
